Text

A performance that derives from a collaborative experiment in TAC Eindhoven with video and installation artist Emma van der Put. Firstly the video is showed in total silence, when finished the space turns dark and sound explodes in immediacy from all corners of the space; the sound of silence, a loud silence. In the process of creation, silences in various places of the venue were recorded and afterwards temporally modified, diffused and projected back on a multichannel sound system placed in the venue. The core idea behind the performance is that trough the recorded material there is a negotiation between performer and space. The silences as agents which transports the spatial qualities and therefore inhabit the intelligence of what the space does and wants to convey. The performer is hidden behind a screen and gives territory to submerge the media involved with the voice of the space, through amplification guiding their communication to the audience, bridging their awareness to its essence that usually would go beyond the scope of our perception.
